WEST CALDWELL, NJ - Bringing more than 35 years in the industry, Vic Savanello has joined FreshPro Food Distributors as Vice President of Merchandising, Sales, and Business Development. In this new role, Savanello will work to grow and create retail programs that bring expanded value to the company's product and service offerings.

“I’m ecstatic to join the team at FreshPro and return to my New York and New Jersey roots,” Savanello stated. “I can’t wait to be able to utilize my experience and vision to help our customers gain a competitive edge in their market areas.”

Savanello brings a world of expertise with independent supermarket owners as well as chain retailers in the Northeast to his new outfit—all of which will accelerate FreshPro’s growth and deliver a higher level of customer support, according to a press release.

This tenure includes a repertoire of national produce retail and distribution positions across top leadership roles at Wakefern Foods, The Fresh Market, and SpartanNash to name a few.

FreshPro is a distributor to quality retailers, gourmet/specialty shops, convenience stores, foodservice operations, and other outlets of fresh foods. Included in its portfolio are high-quality conventional and organic produce, fresh cuts, deli items, cheese, chilled foods, and more. The company offers solutions for every customer, big or small, across the perishables arena.

As the release added, its fresh-cut division, named FreshPro, was created to fill an opportunity in the market for fresh-cut value-added products in 1991. The FreshPro division has now expanded to include private label, repacking, and other services.
