ZAG Technical Services Creates Operational Advantages for Produce Partners; Thuan Ngo Details
SAN JOSE, CA - Innovation is all around us. Across all segments of the produce industry, companies are adopting automation to generate critical developments for their operations. Thuan Ngo, ZAG Technical Services’ Vice President of Data and Software Services, recently walked me through the many advantages the company is providing for its produce partners.
“Our unique advantage is the rich history that ZAG has built through partnering with agriculture and fresh produce companies for decades,” explains Thuan. “As technology has advanced, ZAG accumulated the experience and knowledge to better understand the specific challenges that produce companies face, allowing us to continually improve our services to our partners.”
ZAG backs its partners with robotic process automation (RPA), or software automation, intended to streamline repetitive job duties, therefore creating increased efficiencies for produce companies.
“Often, implementing automation practices allows individuals to conduct more meaningful work, which we refer to as upskilling,” Thuan adds. “If automating one of your daily tasks saves one hour per day, what else can be done that’s meaningful for the company in the same hour? When you extrapolate the savings across multiple locations daily, in some cases you can save the equivalent of multiple positions, allowing existing employees to do more with their time.”
ZAG works closely with organizations to determine what their prioritized opportunities are, and which target the highest return on investment, then focuses on building solutions together.
“Adding automation at the ground level provides a strong foundation to create consistency in data management that leads to making better business decisions,” Thuan says. “The value that ZAG brings is an understanding of what the challenges are for the company, what they have to work with in terms of their existing technology stack and coming up with the right-fit solution for them.”
As Thuan adds, ZAG’s abilities can also help companies optimize automation to minimize food waste.
“Automations to improve picking routes based on information from the fields, compliance documentation to speed up processing, or improvements in managing recalls are a few examples,” he shares. “This creates a big opportunity for companies to use automation to improve waste prevention.”
As ZAG Technical Services continues to create new opportunities for its partners, ANUK will be here to report on the latest industry innovations.
