Former Fresh Express Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Steve Taylor Passes Away
SALINAS, CA - The industry is mourning a powerful legacy in the produce arena, honoring the vital contributions made by a famed leader. Steve Taylor, former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fresh Express, passed away on Sunday at the age of 67.
Known for his positive impact on the bagged salad sector, Taylor was born and raised in Salinas, California, joining Fresh Express in 1987 to help develop the packaged salad industry. In 1993, he took over the role of Chairman and CEO. After helping the company reach $550 million in sales, Taylor sold the company in 2001.
In 1973, Taylor graduated from Salinas High School before going on to secure a BA in Psychology from UC Berkeley. He also earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1985.
Taylor is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kate, and their three children. A memorial service is currently planned to celebrate Taylor’s life at Compass Church in Salinas on September 4 at 3 p.m.
