CTV News Spotlights NatureFresh Farms and Loblaw's Locally-Grown Initiatives
OTTAWA, ON - Loblaw and NatureFresh™ Farms are continuing to work together to educate consumers about how produce is grown and promoting the locally-grown initiative, with the next round of tours for the company’s mobile Greenhouse Education Center. Not only has this NatureFresh initiative kicked off this week, but it is also making local news.
NatureFresh Farms' Director of Marketing, Chris Veillon, and Loblaw Dietitian, Alexes Papadopoli, were featured by Ottawa’s CTV News, showcasing the influence NatureFresh’s mobile greenhouse has on consumers looking to understand greenhouse growing and, in turn, eating more healthily.
“The Greenhouse Education Center is a great tool to teach consumers about how produce is grown and, more importantly, how produce is grown in Ontario,” Veillon told CTV News, explaining that this is the second year of the Green in the City Tour, coming off of a successful debut this time last year.
You can watch the full interview spotlighting both Loblaw and NatureFresh in the video below.
As we have reported previously, the NatureFresh Greenhouse Education Center is a 38-foot custom built trailer that has six different cassettes that hold a variety of products, including three different colors of bell peppers, English cucumbers, cocktail tomatoes, and cherry tomatoes.
Available in Loblaw stores throughout Ontario, consumers have the added benefit of the retailers’ dietitians available to advise on what can be done with fresh produce in the home and the benefits of eating more of it.
“We encourage everybody to come out and just check out what the greenhouse is doing so you can really get a feel for where your food comes from,” Papadopoli told the news source. “Then I can help you prepare it, and give you recipe ideas.”
With a dietitian in every Loblaw in Ottawa offering complementary services, we hope to see many more consumers taking advantage of all this program has to offer to further boost the produce section.
