New York Apple Association Brings Back New York Big Apple Salad Contest
FISHERS, NY - When January 1 rolls around, we might not be feeling our best. We’ve eaten a few too many Christmas cookies, had several leftovers of turkey and ham, and perhaps even sipped a few too many sips of champagne. Those of us out there looking to turn things around should look no further than the New York Apple Association’s (NYAA) Big Apple Salad Contest. Beginning the first of the year, the consumer contest inspires folks to keep their healthy eating resolutions.
“Whatever your health goal—eating cleaner, feeling better, or losing weight—salads are a deliciously easy way to eat better without sacrificing flavor or satisfaction,” said Cynthia Haskins, NYAA President, in a recent press release. “Apples add crunch, texture, and flavor—as well as nutrient-related fullness—to any salad. Plus, apple cider and cider vinegar make great salad dressings!”
Participating in the contest is simple: all you have to do is eat one salad a day, so long as it’s accompanied with a New York apple variety. Before you gobble it all up, be sure to share images and recipe details with NYAA for a chance to win one of three $500 gift cards.
The contest is set to launch on Facebook and will run through February 28. NYAA also created a motivational video and recipe ideas to be shared online and to continue inspiring consumers to stick with their salad-eating. Some of these recipes include New York Apple Slaw with Sweet and Sour Cider Dressing and New York Grilled Apple Salad.
Contest details and updates will be posted on NYAA’s a.cstmapp.com/p/29354 website.
