Global Cherry Summit Announces Dates for 2020
SANTIAGO, CHILE - Cherry growers, packers, shippers, and marketers, how’s your calendar looking? If it’s looking a little empty, I’m going to assume it’s just because you don’t have the Global Cherry Summit penciled in just yet. But that's about to change when you hear about what's in store for next year's event! The foremost annual event in its third year is slated to take place on April 23, 2020, at the Sun Monticello Conference Center in San Francisco de Mostazal, Chile, and you can already count on two things: cherries and a whole heckuva lot of cherry fun!
“It comes on a perfect date when everyone wants to know how the Chilean season concluded,” Cristian Tagle, President of the Chilean Cherry Committee, said, before noting that the Global Cherry Summit has become a key event for the industry worldwide. “Shipments finish in late February and March, and so April is a great time to close the campaign and inform everybody about how it went.”
The Global Cherry Summit is organized by Yentzen Group, Produce Business magazine, and the Cherry Committee of ASOEX. According to a press release, the third annual event will once again bring together the world’s leading players in the global cherry industry, share key information, and focus on the new challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
“We are delighted to announce that the Global Cherry Summit will be returning in 2020,” said Gustavo Yentzen, General Manager of Yentzen Group. “This event has quickly established itself as the most important meeting point for cherry industry professionals from around the world.”
The event builds off of the ever-burgeoning global cherry demand—exports in 2018 hit $3 billion USD for the first time, double what they were just five years ago, while export volumes from Chile have risen three-fold since 2012. To capitalize on this exciting growth, the summit will offer eye-opening sessions on the international cherry trade, emerging markets, new commercial opportunities, marketing strategies and logistical developments, as well as ample networking opportunities.
This year’s event (2019) witnessed over 700 attendees from the world’s main cherry export and import countries—namely Chile, China, the U.S., the U.K., Australia, Brazil, Argentina, New Zealand, Spain and Turkey—representing more than 60 companies rub elbows, attend high quality educational sessions, and mingle with the best retailers, growers, exporters, importers, marketers, and researchers in the biz. Next year, that could be you!
