Sprouts Farmers Market Opens First Delaware Store
WILMINGTON, DE - Sprouts Farmers Market has been on an upward trajectory for some time now and has been accelerating its expansion with new stores across the country. The grocer has pushed further into retail markets in Florida, Arizona, California, and New Jersey, and is even exploring regions in which it previously held no presence, recently opening its first-ever stores in Louisiana and Virginia. The latest state to receive its first-ever Sprouts store is Delaware, which the retailer will open on March 11.
Construction on the new store, located in Wilmington, began approximately four months ago, according to Delaware Business Now, and now Sprouts is prepared to move into the next phase. The retailer has already announced a hiring event on January 23 and 24 for the new location, courting potential team members to staff all of the store’s departments.
The new location will reportedly put pressure on the region’s other major retailers, including Acme, Wegmans, and ShopRite, the news source reports. Sprouts’ new store can potentially face added competition from Whole Foods, which operates a store across state lines, just over 10 miles away in Pennsylvania.
