Wish Farms Launches New App and Website
PLANT CITY, FL - A dream is a wish your heart makes, and my wish is to have an endless supply of berries. That dream might just become a reality now that I’ve spoken with Amber Maloney, Director of Marketing for Wish Farms. The berry grower extraordinaire has been a busy pixie as of late. According to Amber, Misty now has more space to roam in a new consumer app and website.
Perhaps one of the most unique features of the app that is wowing consumers is seeing Misty the Garden Pixie come to life right on the label through augmented reality technology.
“We created our own version of Tic Tac Toe called Trick Tac Toe where players use berries to fill the board. There’s an algorithm that for so many moves, Misty flies in and steals a berry,” Amber explained to me. “But our most exciting app feature is the use of augmented reality. When you scan one of our labels using the app, it will come to life. To our knowledge, this is the first time AR technology has been used to promote fresh produce. Our feature video shows Misty coming right off of the label, and she says, ‘Because you’ve taken the time to download our app, we’re donating a meal on your behalf to those in the community who need it the most.’”
That’s right folks. For every download and for every Berry Lover sign-up, Wish Farms will donate one meal to Feeding America. The donations aren’t part of a campaign, rather as a part of Wish Farms Family Foundation’s belief to serve the community. Wish Farms will continue donating meals for every app download indefinitely. And, with the rise in healthy eating starting with the younger generation, Wish Farms will be focused on producing animated videos for kids where Misty the Garden Pixie will share fun facts about berries and farming.
The app features Wish Farms berry recipes; a growing page with a map showing berry varieties, seasonality, and growing regions; and a Happiness Survey where users can conveniently provide feedback by scanning the QR code on the label of Wish Farms’ berries.
I then asked Amber: With such potential, what could we see next?
“Our app is meant to be fun and educational, which aligns perfectly with our brand. In the future, through the use of augmented reality, we’ll have the ability to get even more granular with our promotions. We can feature specific videos for each berry and take it as far as a berry grower in the field talking to you about their farm,” she continued. “Right now, we plan to keep the videos animated, but the possibilities with the app are endless.”
As Wish Farms embark on this venture, the berry grower will be working with its key retail partners to provide POS in the store. The company will also provide push notifications and alerts through the app to help communicate Wish Farm’s marketing initiatives to grocers and better engage with consumers.
Amber then tells me that the app will coincide with the company’s website, now revamped and looking as playful as ever.
