AMADO, AZ - Wholesum® recently launched a new program of high-volume, organic, and Fair Trade butternut and spaghetti squash. This is the first commercial production of hard squash for Wholesum in several years after trials last year. They will be available in markets mid-April.

“At Wholesum, we are very proud of the organic and Fair Trade vegetables that we grow, but we are constantly looking to innovate, expand our offerings, and do so sustainably,” says Theojary Crisantes, Chief Operations Officer. “We decided to maximize the use of our fields by planting hard squash following our soft squash season. After a few trials last year at our farm in Culiacan, Mexico, we have created a great spring butternut and spaghetti squash program that we will bring great value to our farm and customers.”

Although butternut and spaghetti squash are considered winter squashes, they are not limited to growing in the winter months. Butternut and spaghetti squash are hearty and versatile vegetables with high vitamin content and long shelf life that appeals to retailers and consumers.

Wholesum’s other assortment of 100 percent organic and Fair Trade certified squash include zucchini and yellow squash. Both are available year-round.
