Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation Accepting Applications for 2020 Neighborhood Grants Program
PHOENIX, AZ - Sprouts Farmers Market is taking a boots-on-the-ground approach to strengthening the communities it operates in. Across its 23-state-wide brick-and-mortar footprint, the organic grocer is looking for stand-out nonprofit organizations to fund with upwards of $600,000 as part of its annual Neighborhood Grants program.
“Nonprofit organizations play a critical role in providing children and families with the education, resources, and encouragement to learn how to life healthier lives,” said Lyndsey Waugh, Executive Director of the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation. “Through our Neighborhood Grants program, we are able to partner in this meaningful work and serve our communities.”
Specifically, the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation is looking for nonprofits that are providing nutrition education and food access programs to kids, like community gardens, youth cooking classes, and other community-forward initiatives. Nonprofits who fall under this umbrella are encouraged to apply for the 2020 Neighborhood Grant in order to be awarded grants ranging in size from $1,000 to $10,000. Applications are due on July 20.
Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $10 million to nonprofit partners across 22 states, according to a press release. Together with these organizations, Sprouts has helped to impact thousands of young lives by increasing access to fresh, healthy food and teaching today’s youth the importance of eating well.
