The Flavor Tree Fruit Company Kicks Off Verry Cherry Plum Season
FRESNO, CA - Innovations in the field have made it possible for retailers to constantly diversify their displays. No matter the variety of fresh produce, I know one thing is for sure: Any grocer featuring Verry Cherry Plums from The Flavor Tree Fruit Company in their lineup this summer can guarantee a healthy rise in register rings. Recurring customers may even expect an even larger return on their investment this year as Organic Verry Cherry Plums hit the market for the first time.
“The Verry Cherry Plum is a unique new fruit bursting with flavor from a natural cross between several varieties of plums and cherries, including Bing and Stella cherries,” Alyssa Wininger of Customer Relations told me. “They have a plum flavor with the added texture, crunch, and sweetness from their cherry parentage.”
Grown in Hanford in California’s San Joaquin Valley on approximately 450 producing acres, this summer fruit is close to picking with harvest beginning in late June and ending in the middle of August. The short season of this exclusive variety keeps it in high demand, so it is a shoo-in for driving up the average ticket price.
“We expect to see the same mouth-watering sweetness and crunch in our Verry Cherry Plums with an increase in volume of 20 percent at approximately 500,000 boxes available,” Alyssa continued. “They are sold in 1.5- to 2-pound, high-graphic pouch bags and 1-pound clamshells. They are also available for export.”
The Flavor Tree Fruit Company maintains 122 acres of the first-ever Organic Verry Cherry Plums crops. This offering will be available the whole month of July in volumes great enough to support large programs.
“Consumers love this flavorful bite-sized fruit. Its small size makes it perfect for snacking and easy for kids to hold. It is versatile in the kitchens of home cooks and chefs, making it ideal for jams, cakes, and more,” Alyssa said. “Retailers want to get Verry Cherry Plums into their stores as soon as they are available, since they sell out quickly and shoppers always return begging for more.”
To emphasize Alyssa’s well-made point: Retailers, jump on this fruitful opportunity before it’s gone! And, as always, follow along with us at ANUK for the latest reports.
