Pacific's Dave Johnson Highlights Lettuce and Brussels Sprouts Lineup and Teases Program Expansion
SALINAS, CA - The fresh faces of the Pacific International Marketing team are among those I'm most eager to meet in the industry, especially as the company continues to bring high-quality offerings to the produce department with its unique lineup. To get an inside look at some of these enticing products, I got in touch with the grower’s President Dave Johnson, who highlighted the company’s robust portfolio of lettuce and Brussels sprouts.
“Our Petite Romaine, which is grown year-round, is a new commodity on our list, and its characteristics are second to none,” Dave tells me. “It brings out the best qualities of Iceberg and Romaine in one alluring variety. This lettuce provides almost 100 percent usability, has a tolerance to heat, is very versatile when it comes to cooking, and packs a crunch like no other lettuce.”
Pacific’s Petite Romaine is available for retail customers in 12x2 ct bags and 24 ct cartons, in 7x5 ct bags for club store customers, and 24 and 48 ct options for foodservice.
In addition to these sales-driving offerings, Pacific also offers Brussels sprouts to its customers year-round. The company’s Brussels sprouts are offered to retail customers in 9 ct full stalks, 18 ct half stalks, and 1 lb mesh bags, and to foodservice customers in 18 and 25 lb bulk options. The stalks are available October through December, with loose options available January through December.
“Our vision for our Brussels sprouts program is to focus on growing and harvesting high-quality product, expanding and diversifying our acreage for a more dependable and steady supply, and developing strategic co-packing relationships to provide value-added items to our customers,” Dave adds.
