Gold Coast Packing Shares Insights on Current Brussels Sprouts Market; Crystal Chavez Discusses
SANTA MARIA, CA - As demand fluctuates and winter weather poses problems, the Brussels sprouts market has been active lately. To keep me in the loop on supply and quality, I turned to Gold Coast Packing’s Marketing Coordinator, Crystal Chavez.
“Our Mexico growing season has just kicked off and will run until July. We just received our first two pallets of sprouts from Mexico,” Crystal informed me. “There are still some Brussels sprouts available locally here in Santa Maria, California, but the numbers are really low. It is spotty with little to no volume.”
In order to compensate for issues in California, the Gold Coast team relies on its Mexican crop—which is reporting great quality and volume. Weather in Mexico has similarly not been a problem. Crystal also shared that its Mexican growing regions are on time.
“The Brussels sprouts market in general has been steady but teetering, and it will be readjusting soon. East Coast demand is expected to decline due to the cold weather they are experiencing,” Crystal noted.
AndNowUKnow will continue to report on crop and market updates, so stay tuned for the latest!
