Hazel Technologies Prepares for 2022 Cherry Quality Summit; Mario Cervantes and Desmond O’Rourke Comment
CHICAGO, IL - The end of this month signifies a key moment for the cherry category, as Hazel Technologies is preparing to host its Cherry Quality Summit on March 31. With expert speakers taking the stage, this event will offer up valuable insights into the cherry category for the 2022 global season.
“We all know that consumers eat with their eyes first, especially when they are purchasing produce,” said Mario Cervantes, Director of Business Development – AgTech at Hazel Technologies. “Hazel 100™ helps maintain stem greenness, promotes longer shelf-life, and gives higher post-storage quality, so that the cherries you send to your retailers, wholesalers, and importers arrive at field-fresh perfection. I look forward to expanding on these benefits during the summit on March 31.”
The Cherry Quality Summit is a free event and will offer both English and Spanish translations. Sharing their expertise on the category, speakers will include Cervantes, who will discuss innovations in post-harvest technologies for the commodity, and Desmond O’Rourke, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Belrose.
Other presentations at the webinar will highlight grower and quality perspectives from various cherry growing regions around the world, according to a press release.
O’Rourke has 60-plus years of experience in international marketing research. Specializing in global fruit industry problems over the last three decades, O’Rourke conducts yearly global fruit marketing analysis for the cherry, apple, pear, and kiwifruit industries at Belrose. During the summit, O’Rourke will shine a light on global market trends for cherries in 2022.
“Over the last few years, the global cherry industry has seen major growth, specifically in Chile, Turkey, and the United States,” said O’Rourke. “I look forward to discussing how consumers around the world are driving the increased production in these countries and what this means for the market.”
