Allen Lund Company's Bob Rose and Lenny Sciarrapa Discuss the State of the Transportation Market
LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE, CA - With the start of a new year comes a wave of opportunities. Everyone along the supply chain is now laying the groundwork for the year ahead, and the transportation sector is a crucial link. I got in touch with Allen Lund Company’s (ALC) Bob Rose, Vice President of National Account Management, and Lenny Sciarrapa, Vice President of Operations and Sales, to hear their outlook as we kick off 2023.
“2022 was an excellent year for us. As a company, we remain very optimistic about our outlook for 2023. We have worked closely with our customers to offer transportation solutions designed to meet various market challenges and will continue our efforts,” Lenny told me.
Bob went on to note that ALC does not see any changes occurring in the freight market over the next few months, barring any political turmoil or major weather events. In the past few months, however, the industry has experienced some challenges.
“For ALC, we have seen some changes in supply chain delays over the past few months, primarily due to weather events around the country,” Bob added. “Overall, we have had capacity for our customers with no problems in that time period. We track carriers daily through many metrics and see they continue to handle the available freight most efficiently and professionally, even with current weather issues.”
He continued by telling me carriers are facing many challenges as of late; equipment costs, insurance, regulations, driver wages, and taxes have all increased while truck rates have declined.
As many will recall, finding and retaining labor was another challenge faced by operators in the past couple of years, but Lenny shared a positive outlook on that front as well.
“Fortunately, the Allen Lund Company continues to grow and hire,” he said. “We are seeing more qualified candidates, which is excellent for our company. Positions are being filled in less time than in previous months.”
With so much success already in 2023, time will only tell what great things await us. If you stick around with AndNowUKnow, you will be the first to hear about it.
