CORONA, CA - As we look to the seasonal opportunities on the horizon, the melon category is an area of particular focus as retailers aim to further ignite shoppers’ love of fresh fruit. With the supplier’s melon program kicking off in just a couple of months, Veg Fresh Farms’ Dan Kerrigan, Sales Manager, clued me in on some of the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

“Our Melon program starts in El Centro, California, in mid-May,” Dan recently shared with me, noting a variety of high-quality offerings available. “Our Good Life Organic melons lineup includes cantaloupe, honeydews, mini seedless, and full-size seedless watermelons, with steady promotable volume through June. We also have conventional full-size seedless watermelon this season.”

These opportunities to drive melon sales extend further into the year as Veg Fresh Farms transitions its growing operations to Brentwood in California’s Central Valley at the beginning of June, with its full lineup of melons available through the end of October.

As the supplier gears up for the kickoff of another great melon season, now is the time to start mapping out those promotional plans and sales-driving retail strategies.
