Amazon Announces a Multi-Market Expansion
UNITED STATES - Amazon continues to amaze us writers here at AndNowUKnow, leaving an indelible mark on more markets as it builds upon expansion plans. The retail giant will soon have new distribution centers (DC) in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Long Island, New York; and Whitsett, North Carolina.
The facility in Colorado Springs will most likely be the largest in the state, according to a report from The Gazette. This structure, standing at 3.7 million square feet, is scheduled for completion sometime next year.
The Shirley, Long Island, distribution center will represent the company’s third facility in the area, according to Long Island Business News, helping Amazon make those “last mile” deliveries to consumers in the area. It will stand at 110,658 square feet.
The facility in Whitsett, North Carolina, part of a region that locals call The Triad, is rumored to be in talks with Amazon, although news source WFMY News 2 could not specify which major retailer has—or will—snap up the site. If Amazon is to purchase this center, it will represent the company’s third in the area.
How will these DCs continue to up the retail stakes for Amazon and its competitors? AndNowUKnow will be here to report.
