Amazon Fresh Reportedly Exploring Central Florida Expansion
SEATTLE, WA - Amazon may be on the move again, this time reportedly eyeing the Central Florida market as a potential new location for one of its Amazon Fresh stores. The retail giant is reported to be looking to open the grocery concept in the Maitland/Winter Park retail submarket, but it is not known how far along the potential deal is.
According to an article from Orlando Business Journal, the information comes from real estate sources in the area. While it is not known exactly where the new location would be situated, it would drum up fierce grocery competition in the area. Retailers like Publix, Walmart, Monrovia, Trader Joe’s, and Sprouts Farmers Market all reside in the locale.
With a smaller 35,000-square-foot layout compared to its competition, Amazon Fresh is not to be counted out due to size. With a plethora of innovative design concepts built into each Amazon Fresh market, including Amazon Dash cart which allows to shoppers to avoid checkout lines, the grocery concept holds its own.
At this point in time, Amazon has opened one Amazon Fresh in Los Angeles’ Woodland Hills area, but the retailer is in discussion to expand into a host of other pivotal markets nationwide. As Amazon continues to see skyrocketing growth and sales numbers, there is no telling what the future will look like for the retailer.
