ITALY - We reported last week that GrubMarket was revolutionizing the supply chain by connecting fresh produce suppliers to buyers and consumers. It seems that a focus on agriculture amongst grocery e-commerce is on the rise worldwide as Italian grocery delivery company Cortilia is focusing its efforts in this sector as well. Cortilia recently announced a significant investment to further its goal, securing roughly $41.37 million (€34 million) in Series C funding.

According to UKTN, this investment round was led by Red Circle Investments in addition to Five Seasons Ventures, Italian VC Indaco Ventures, Primomiglio, and P101. The news source reported that Cortilia plans to leverage this funding in order to expand and become certified as a sustainable B corp.

Operating in Lombardy, Piedmont, and Emilia-Romagna, Italy, the company grants consumer access to local producers and farmers and allows for efficient delivery. To further its growth, Cortilia will soon be opening a more than 538,195-square-foot (50,000 square meters) headquarters location with a focus on sustainable operations.
