Fresh Produce Association of the Americas' Spring Policy Summit Returns
TUBAC, AZ - For years, the Spring Policy Summit brought regulators and the industry together to identify practical, goal-oriented outcomes for key issues facing the fresh produce industry at the Southwest border. Although the summit was cancelled last year, the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas (FPAA) brought it back this year to give attendees the chance to make an impact on issues that affect their businesses.
“First and foremost on everyone’s mind today is the USMCA, and we are bringing in experts from Washington, DC, to talk about the changes,” said President Lance Jungmeyer. “But there are many other issues on the table, from how to handle increased tomato inspections to the potential for 100 percent scans of commercial cargo by Customs. The border is ever-changing, and we have to keep importers up with new developments.”
According to the press release, the agenda is jam-packed with a full itinerary that will feature interactive sessions for attendees. Some highlights include:
- Discussing USMCA, WTO, and trade
- Mexico farm labor and trade data trends
- Regulatory Breakout Track including inspections, plant disease, and food safety
- Trade, transportation, and infrastructure
The summit is to be held on March 24, 2020, in Tubac, Arizona, at the Tubac Resort from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. For more information on the educational and eventful schedule, click here. Stay up-to-date with what’s happening in the industry with AndNowUKnow.
