The Fresh Market Appoints Two Executives to Board of Directors
GREENSBORO, NC - As joy and merriment fill the air, so too does the news of new leaders at The Fresh Market. The company recently appointed Heather Berger and Sue Gove as the newest members of its Board of Directors. The decision comes as a result of one open position, due to the resignation of Itai Wallach on December 14 after three years of service, and a decision by the Board to increase its size from six to seven leaders.
Berger currently serves as Lead Product Specialist for Apollo Global Management and has worked with the company since 2008, having held several other roles. Prior to that, she worked in the Private Fund Group at Credit Suisse Securities (USA).
Gove will serve as an Independent Director, according to a press release, and comes to The Fresh Market with experience as an International Retail Senior Executive having held roles such as CEO, COO, and CFO.
Currently, Gove serves as President of Excelsior Advisors, which she helped found in 2014. Prior to her current position, she served as Senior Advisor to Alvarez & Marsal.
Over the years, Gove has held several senior level positions with national retailers and consulting firms across the retail sector, and currently serves on the boards of Bed Bath & Beyond, IAA, and Conn's.
"Sue brings significant experience in leading successful turnarounds in multiple retail organizations and will provide thoughtful guidance to our Board of Directors through her Audit and Governance experience. I am looking forward to her joining our team and lending her expertise and counsel to further our growth and future success," said Jason Potter, President and CEO.
Andy Jhawar, Chairman, also expressed his thoughts on Heather's appointment and his appreciation of Itai's dedication to the company.
