The Fresh Market Names Dave Ciesco Chief Financial Officer and Giorgio Bianchetti Gonzalez as Chief Merchandising Officer
GREENSBORO, NC - Two new Chiefs have joined The Fresh Market’s ranks as the retailer adds Giorgio Bianchetti Gonzalez and Dave Ciesco to the C-suite team. Gonzalez will now be taking on the role of Chief Merchandising Officer while Ciesco joins the company as its newest Chief Financial Officer.
Gonzalez was promoted to CMO late last week from his position as Vice President Merchandising Integration U.S. Latin America. He has been leading the Cencosud S.A./The Fresh Market integration team for the last nine months. Prior to his move to Greensboro, North Carolina, Gonzalez served as CMO for 12 years at Cencosud in Chile and has been with the company for 23 years in various merchandising, operations, and leadership roles.
As the retailer noted in its post, Gonzalez has been an integral part of Cencosud’s growth and has helped to lead Cencosud to be a market leader in South America with annual sales of $5 billion and a 33 percent share of the Chilean market.
Gonzalez studied Business at Adolfo Ibanez University in Chile and Copenhagen School in Denmark, and he will transition into the new role as the company wishes Dan Portnoy the best on his retirement at the end of August.
Also joining the retailer’s Chief roster is Ciesco. Ciesco comes to the specialty retailer from American Eagle Outfitters, where he recently served as the Senior Vice President, Head of International Finance and Operations. The company noted in its statement that Ciesco brings over 25 years of experience in finance and strategy to The Fresh Market team.
Congratulations to Giorgio Bianchetti Gonzalez and Dave Ciesco as they step into their new positions, and we wish all the best to Dan Portnoy on his well-deserved retirement.
