LOS ALAMITOS, CA - With fall flavors blowing in on the last warm breezes of the summer, Frieda’s has announced that its Stokes Purple® sweet potatoes are back in season just in time for the upcoming holidays.

Recent Nielson data shows that the richly colored, eye-catching vegetables are a hot commodity on the market right now. According to a press release, Stokes Purple sweet potatoes are seeing as high as a 20 percent increase in weekly dollar same-store sales versus prior years’ sales. It is safe to say that consumers are going crazy for these purple beauties.
The increase in popularity comes from the peak in the nation’s focus on functional foods. As the Mayo Clinic explains, these are nutrient-dense items that promote health and reduce disease risks. As COVID-19 continues to change the market, it is predicted that these foods, like Stokes Purple sweet potatoes, will continue to see high demand.
Making it easier for retailers and consumer to stock up on the goods, Frieda’s is offering Stokes Purple sweet potatoes in 15-lb and 40-lb cartons. All potatos are labeled to reduce front-end checker error. An organic 12/3-lb bag option is also available. The sweet potatoes will be offered now through May.
