Jon Zaninovich Details Jasmine Vineyards' Table Grape Season
DELANO, CA - Table grapes are an essential snack in my opinion, as they are easy to promote, pack, and snack. With consumer demand for nutritious produce always on the rise, I tapped Jon Zaninovich, President of Jasmine Vineyards, to get a read on the grower’s harvest as we hit mid-season.
“We are seeing a strong market right now in table grapes, especially with the weather we’ve been having in California,” stated Jon. “It was slightly drier compared to last year at this time, but this hasn’t impacted our harvest.”
Jon further noted the grower is pulling in promotional supplies this season, and that it will be finishing up the early season.
“Our grape season typically lasts about six months, from when we first harvest to the last box we ship,” continued Jon. “We are currently harvesting Summer Crunch and Sweet Globe for green seedless, Sweet Celebration and Scarlet Royal for red seedless, and black Summer Royal seedless varieties. The quality is terrific across the board with large berry size and plentiful bunches.”
And excellent quality makes for great recipe utilization, which gives retailers eye-catching merchandising opportunities to utilize in-store. Shoppers will be pleased to have these plump bunches to snack on or use for more elaborate incorporation like charcuterie or cheese boards and dessert. The category has found itself in a bevy of inspirational recipes, especially with Jasmine Vineyards leading the fray with Snack recipes such as Dalmatian Cioppino using red seedless grapes and The Jasmine 75 using black seedless grapes.
