Kroger Purchases Real Estate in Florida for $5.15 Million
CINCINNATI, OH - Kroger is continuing to keep Florida in its sights as it recently purchased land in Bradenton, Florida. The Cincinnati-based retailer paid $5.15 million for the parcel, closing the deal on December 22, 2020.
According to local news source Tampa Bay Business Journal, Kroger has only one store in Florida, a Harris Teeter in Fernandina Beach near the Georgia line. That location is the result of Kroger’s 2014 acquisition of the retail banner. With this latest purchase, Kroger will be adding roughly four acres of land to its portfolio.
Currently, Kroger has a Customer Fulfillment Center in Florida as a result of its partnership with Ocado. The robotic warehouse is a fulfillment center for online grocery shopping.
So far, Kroger spokespersons have not commented on what the purchase signifies for the company, nor what the property's use could be.
