Mastronardi Produce® Unveils the Fifth Taste: Umami Bombs®; Paul Mastronardi Comments
KINGSVILLE, ONTARIO, CANADA - A new launch from Mastronardi Produce® is on the horizon, giving taste buds everywhere a sweet and savory explosion of flavor. The Canadian greenhouse grower recently unveiled its latest Bombs® addition in the form of Umami The Fifth Taste®.
“It’s no coincidence that we’re releasing Umami The Fifth Taste as our fifth Bomb,” explained Paul Mastronardi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mastronardi Produce. “Umami is a totally unique flavor that will fascinate our loyal Bombs consumers. We are extremely eager to bring this to market and continue to lead innovation in the fastest-growing tomato segment.”
Joining an award-winning line of snacking on-the-vine tomatoes, this new addition brings a whole new flavor profile to the Bombs selection. The Umami Bomb® features a sweet and savory profile that complements the current lineup of sweet flavors.
Featuring a unique red hue, the snacking tomato is carefully cultivated to be as exquisite in flavor as it is in appearance. The new variety is named after the Japanese word, meaning the essence of deliciousness. Umami was coined by the Japanese to describe a delicious and savory flavor profile, alternatively known as the elusive and newly discovered fifth flavor.
Like the other Bombs snacking tomatoes, the release noted, Umami tomatoes are ripened to perfection and packed on the vine to deliver optimal flavor and freshness. The line is made up of the popular Flavor Bombs®, Sugar Bombs®, Honey Bombs™, and Lolli Bombs™, which have created a huge demand and a cult-like following among consumers.
Unveiling for the first time at the Canadian Produce Marketing Association Trade Show and Convention, attendees can get a first look at Umami The Fifth Taste® at the SUNSET® booth, #1021.
