GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Many holiday traditions have been challenged by the ongoing pandemic, but there’s one tradition that is still in full effect. Meijer has poured support back into its local communities by surprising shoppers and associates with gift cards ranging from $100 to $1,000.

“Each year we look forward to spreading holiday cheer and showing our customers and team members our appreciation through this event, and 2020 was no exception,” Hank Meijer, Executive Chairman, said in a press release.

In the seventh-annual Very Merry Meijer event, the grocer once again surprised hundreds of shoppers with full-blown, $1,000 shopping sprees. However, given the challenges of 2020, Meijer decided to take the tradition up a notch, offering an additional 1,300 consumers $100 gift cards. The retailer also showed appreciation for its team members, surprising a couple of them with $100 gift cards as well.

The act of generosity left shoppers in stores celebrating, and even shedding tears, as the gifts were handed out across Meijer’s 256 stores and supercenters.

Meijer has once again made a valuable investment and witnessed a priceless payoff, lifting holiday spirits and driving shopper loyalty.
