Publix Unveils Plans to Phase Out GreenWise Market Banner
LAKELAND, FL - An operational pivot is in the works for Publix as the retailer will begin phasing out its GreenWise Market banner. This comes less than five years after it reintroduced the concept.
The Florida-based grocer recently confirmed that it will transition eight of its GreenWise Market locations to traditional Publix stores, according to reporting from Tampa Bay Business Journal. Publix’s GreenWise Markets are smaller than their traditional counterparts, with an emphasis on organic and specialty products in addition to prepared and made-to-order offerings.
A time frame for the transition has not yet been announced. Currently, Publix has GreenWise locations in Tampa, Odessa, Lakeland, Boca Raton, Nocatee, and Tallahassee, Florida, as well as Mountain Brook, Alabama.
Following the transitions, Publix will implement some GreenWise Market features into its traditional stores.
