Reports: Two Winter Storms Move Across United States, Putting Some 29 Million Under Alert
UNITED STATES - Yesterday, winter alerts went into effect across the central Plains, the Midwest, the Ohio Valley, and the mid-Atlantic, affecting nearly 29 million people.
According to reporting from NBC News, two winter storms are bringing freezing-cold conditions to these regions. The first storm is due to take shape over the central Plains; the southern side of the storm could produce heavy rain across the South.

As the news source went on, the National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center “issued a slight risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the southern Plains and the lower Mississippi Valley from Tuesday into Wednesday morning because of possible localized flooding.”
Temperatures are due to plummet as well, with the storm bringing Arctic cold air temperatures 25 to 40 degrees below average across the northern Rockies and northern high Plains.
