Walmart Acquires Warehouse Automation Company Alert Innovation; Fritz Morgan Comments
BENTONVILLE, AR - Big news came across the wires this morning, as Walmart has announced an upcoming acquisition. The retailer has entered a definitive agreement to acquire grocery e-commerce fulfillment automation provider Alert Innovation.
“We will continue leveraging our development, manufacturing, and deployment expertise to enable Walmart to build and scale MFC technology in its stores,” Alert Innovation Chief Executive Officer Fritz Morgan said. “With Walmart, we have the opportunity to positively impact millions of lives through the Alphabot System.”
According to a report from Seeking Alpha, Walmart and Alert Innovation have been working side by side on fulfillment center technology since 2016. In 2019, the two reportedly piloted the Alphabot System, which operates in Walmart warehouses using autonomous carts to fulfill delivery orders.
As of now, financial terms of the agreement have not been released.
