AgroFresh Solutions, Inc. Granted Registration Approval for New Harvista™ Technology
PHILADELPHA, PA – In tandem with the company’s latest moves towards growth, AgroFresh Solutions, Inc. has announced another progressive move in the registration of its newest piece of technology, developed to give apple and pear growers a competitive edge.
Argentina’s Servicio Nacional de Sanidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria (SENASA) has granted the company registration for the newest piece of Harvista™ technology, the Harvista 1,3 SC formulation.
"This is an important formulation approval that we expect will allow AgroFresh to provide Harvista to more growers and on more hectares throughout Argentina," said Jeferson Nunes, Latin America Commercial Director for AgroFresh. "With Harvista 1,3 SC, growers can enjoy the benefits of better quality apples that they can sell at higher prices.”
According to a press release, Harvista allows companies with the technology in their orchard management programs to harvest apple and pears at their optimal color, size, and internal quality for increased revenues and more profitable operations.
The company stated that this technology also allows growers to manage their harvests by allowing flexible picking schedules as Harvista extends time on the tree. This benefit allows growers to schedule their harvests for a higher quality product, as well as providing for efficient labor management.
Harvista technology is a pre-harvest application of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP). This application inhibits ethylene recognition in fruit for a superior treefruit, and improved value all the way from harvest to storage.
Harvista 1,3 SC will be available for the 2016-2017 season. Although Argentina is the first Latin American country to grant registration for the new technology, the newest Harvista formulation’s registration is also pending in Chile.
As new innovations are released to improve harvested quality and yields, AndNowUKnow will keep an ear to the ground for the latest technologies.
