Bee Sweet Citrus Welcomes Arrival of Gold Nugget Mandarins
FOWLER, CA - When I think winter, I think citrus, because it’s one of the only things actually getting me through the winter. Bright and sweet, citrus fruits are a ray of sunshine in an otherwise grey and dreary world. This season, Bee Sweet Citrus is ready huff, puff, and blow away the winter blues with its current crop of California’s Gold Nugget mandarins. Though availability is limited, consumers will be jumping at the chance to sample this unique citrus offering.
"Every year, consumers are impressed by how well Gold Nuggets eat and how quickly they are gaining popularity," said Sales Representative Jason Sadoian. "The fruit’s sweet flavor is unmatched by other mandarin varieties, and its easy-peel quality make them great for families."
Gold Nuggets are a hybrid mandarin variety first introduced to California in the early 1950s. Bumpy and bright orange on the outside, Gold Nuggets are extremely fragrant and undeniably sweet. As one of California’s most flavorful late season varieties, Gold Nuggets have become a seasonal hit throughout the citrus industry. And while these mandarins may not be the prettiest on the outside, the pebbly peel encases something special.
"Gold Nuggets prove that it’s what’s on the inside that counts," said Director of Communications Monique Bienvenue in a press release. "Although its bumpy rind may not be as appealing as other varieties, its unique flavor profile really sets the bar for other mandarin varieties. Incredibly sweet, you can rely on Gold Nuggets to act as a key ingredient for upscale culinary dishes or eaten as an everyday snack."
Although their limited availability runs throughout February and March, Gold Nuggets are packed full of vitamin C and fiber which, combined with their exceptional taste, make these mandarins the stuff of winter daydreams.
As we (thankfully) transition from winter to spring, AndNowUKnow will keep you updated on the hippest fruits in the biz.
