Bob Borda Shares Cal-Organic Farms Expansion Plans at Grimmway Farms OPS Booth
BAKERSFIELD, CA - The countdown to Organic Produce Summit (OPS) is in the single-digit days now, and we truly can’t be more excited to see industry friends in Monterey, California. One business friend we have on our must-stop list is Grimmway Farms, and Bob Borda shares the same sentiments.
“Our team looks forward to the OPS each year,” Bob, Vice President of Cal-Organic Farm Sales, shares with me cheerfully. “OPS provides the perfect venue to celebrate the organic produce industry, and reconnecting with our retail/wholesale partners, while exploring and developing new business opportunities, are just a few attributes of this organically focused show.”
Cal-Organic Farms’ focus remains trained on its domestic farming operations, Bob continues. The company’s products are 100 percent grown here in the United States, and plans to expand its operational footprint are in the works to reach new states.
“We’re continuing to expand our organic farming operations across California, the Pacific Northwest, and our Southeast growing regions,” says Bob. “This focus on the regional growing regions reduces the food miles our products travel while providing our consumers with fresher products. The efforts, although costly, build greater resiliency into our supply chain, thus ensuring consistent supplies to our customer base.”
And if expansion news has got you excited, then hold onto your hats, for Cal-Organic is continuing to grow its organic potato and onion programs.
“We are particularly excited about the growth of our organic potato and onion programs. We offer year-round availability for organic gold, red, and russet potato varieties. The Cal-Organic team is eager to talk about our gold, red, and russet potato varieties at booth #803, in addition to the more than 65 varieties of organic vegetables available for loading at our Lamont, California, facility year-round,” Bob explains. “According to Numerator, the Cal-Organic Farms brand had the highest household penetration of any organic vegetable brand in the last 52 weeks ending May 21, 2023.”
And that’s no small potatoes, mind you.
