Hollabaugh Bros. Expands Partnership With Hazel Technologies After Successful 2021 Season; Joe Parker and Wayne Hollabaugh Discuss
CHICAGO, IL - Hazel Technologies is not slowing down its mission of optimizing quality across the fresh produce sector, as the industry innovator has revealed a second-year collaboration with Hollabaugh Bros., a Biglerville, Pennsylvania-based grower/packer/shipper with 500 acres under production.
“It’s really rewarding when our customers have such positive experiences with our Hazel 100™ solution,” said Joe Parker, Account Executive at Hazel Technologies, “Our growers, packers, and shippers are given peace of mind their premium fruits and vegetables will arrive in pristine condition when they use our products. The team at Hollabaugh is a great example of this, as they have gone from trialing Hazel 100 box sachets in 2021 to incorporating both box and bin sachets into three of their commodities in 2022.”
The family-owned and -operated supplier, founded in 1955 by twin brothers Donald and Harold Hollabaugh, has over 65 years of experience in the industry and produces over 13 categories including apples, stonefruit, and pears. Located in the heart of Adams County, Pennsylvania, Hollabaugh Bros. has grown from a small farmer’s market into an operation with 60-plus employees, supplying retailers across the Eastern seaboard, a press release noted.
After learning about Hazel Tech’s efforts in protecting quality produce with innovative post-harvest solutions, the team at Hollabaugh trialed the Hazel® flagship technology, Hazel 100, on their apples and pears during the 2021 season.
“We were honestly blown away by the quality we saw after trying out Hazel 100 sachets. We had heard about the great results they have seen with apples but were amazed by the increase in shelf-life we saw for our pears,” said Wayne Hollabaugh, Assistant Wholesale Manager at Hollabaugh Bros. “Knowing that more fruit is getting to our retailers ripe and ready for the produce floor makes us excited to use Hazel products on our apples, pears, and peaches this year.”
