LIV Organic™ Produce's Anthony Innocenti and The Source Detail Tight Potato Market
UNITED STATES - This is the time of year when potatoes are a staple on many a shopping list and, as always, produce departments. Between barbecues, grilling events, brunches, and breakfasts, the potato market remains one arena to keep our eyes on as we wrap up the end of June. With demand heightening and the market tightening, we gathered some details from some of our friends to get a read on the current state of affairs.
As Anthony Innocenti, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of LIV Organic™ Produce, tells me, retailers should be talking closely with their supplier partners about their potato programs.
"The potato market is tight and can be best navigated with partners that have boots on the ground and up-to-date information around the clock," Anthony shares. "We are very well-positioned and fulfilling every order on bulk and organic. Some sheds will gap, but not us."
Anthony also noted that LIV Organic prides itself on fulfilling all of its retail commitments.
Additionally, PRO*ACT's market report, The Source, noted last week—June 15—that the market was tight as well.
"[The] Potato market is extreme. Packing sheds are limiting production hours in an attempt to extend supplies into the new crop. Some sheds are expecting a gap in supplies end of July," The Source reported.
