Mother's Market & Kitchen's James Saldutti Discusses Recent Expansion and Robust Product Assortment
CALIFORNIA - When we talk about Mother's Market & Kitchen, what we are really talking about is a lifestyle. From podcasts and recipes to health guides and inviting ambiance, there is a unique relationship that the retailer forms with both its vendors and its shoppers. Most recently, the company opened its 12th store, in Hollywood, California, to the applause of the trade and consumers alike.
"Our new store is just under 12,500 square feet and offers a wide assortment that will delight our guests as we hope to be their home away from home for their 'real' food shopping needs," James Saldutti, Senior Director of Produce and Floral, shares with me. "One of our produce goals is to offer more organic produce than anyone else, and we are proud to offer over 90 percent organic produce within our fresh fruit and vegetable assortment."
"I believe this will resonate within the Hollywood community as it does across all of the communities we serve. We will also offer a nice value-added offering in our produce department by having both cut fruit and cut veg, produced in-house, to make healthy eating more convenient," James adds.
Looking across the entirety of the Mother's Market format, you can see a very intricate strategy at play: a goal to help consumers lead a stronger, more balanced, and abundant life.
Just take a stroll through the company's fantastic origins. Mother's Market was founded in 1978 by a collective group of yoga enthusiasts who were passionate about health and believed that eating a mostly plant-based diet was better for your health and also better for the planet. With this in mind, they created a store that centered around a plant-based diet, fresh juicing, and better-for-you organic foods. They truly believed that what you ate mattered to your health, happiness, and overall well-being. Now the company has expanded its vision to account for more coveted categories from fresh produce to sustainable meats and seafood.
