Sage Fruit Company Partners With Chelan Fruit to Sell SugarBee® Apples; Steve Clement and Chuck Sinks Discuss
YAKIMA, WA - Life is as sweet as a SugarBee®. As this coveted apple variety continuously gains shoppers’ attention and dollars, Sage Fruit Company has revealed new opportunities for its retail and wholesale partners. Through a newly formed alliance with Chelan Fruit, the company will have SugarBee apples available, beginning with the 2022 apple crop.
“We are excited by the opportunity to supply SugarBee apples this season. The SugarBee is an outstanding apple that consumers have come to know and love,” stated Steve Clement, Chief Executive Officer of Sage Fruit Company. “Partnering with Chelan Fruit has increased our company’s ability to supply our customers with the best tasting, highest quality tree fruit Washington State has to offer, and we’re thrilled they’ve entrusted us with this specialty variety this season.”
Chelan Fruit is a nearly 3000-acre farming operation complete with its own packing and cold storage facilities. Sage Fruit Company welcomed Chelan Fruit to its family of grower-packer-shippers to enhance the sales, marketing, and distribution of its Washington-grown treefruit at the beginning of the 2022 cherry season, a press release stated.
Further optimizing this partnership, Chelan Fruit will provide a considerable volume of conventional and organic apples and pears during the upcoming season.
“We feel this is an excellent opportunity for our organization and we are thrilled to be able to supply our retail and wholesale partners, as well as our foodservice customers with the SugarBee,” said Chuck Sinks, Sage Fruit’s President of Sales and Marketing.
These delicious apples will begin harvest in early October, with several packaging options available. The Sage Fruit sales and marketing teams will also be aligning with the company’s partners to build unique programs and merchandising techniques to further drive sales.
