Southeast Produce Council Announces Return of Produce Inspection Training to SEPC Virtual Garden; Tim Graas Shares
MILEN, GA - Southeast Produce Council (SEPC) is bolstering industry knowledge while helping companies uplift their operations in terms of food safety and quality with the announcement of the second annual Produce Inspection Training (PIT) Course. After receiving such positive feedback from its first session within the SEPC Virtual Garden 2021, the two-day course will provide quality control personnel, produce buyers, produce inventory control personnel, and other fresh produce company associates with valuable insights on produce inspection.
“Holding our PIT course within the SEPC Virtual Garden has turned out to be a huge benefit. Not only is there a savings in travel-related costs, but being able to keep personnel close to home eliminates extended time away to attend in-person training,” explained Tim Graas, SEPC Vice Chairman of the Board and PIT Program Chairman, Associated Wholesale Grocers. “Additionally, the quality of the training has not suffered. This is a great option for anyone just getting started in the industry or those who are looking for some continuing ed. Paul and his team do a great job!”
The SEPC Virtual Garden team offers two sessions over the course of two days, one in May and the other in October, according to a press release.
The spring session, which will begin at 9 a.m. on May 11, 2022, includes an overview of the basics of produce inspection, with key commodity inspection segments led by Vice President and Lead Instructor for International Produce Training Paul Manol. Following the lunch break, participants will have the chance to participate in a live Q&A segment, where Manol will address any questions that arise.
The fall session will take place later on in October. Both of the sessions must be attended to receive a certificate of completion.
