Gwillimdale Farms’ Quinton Woods Updates Retailers on Canadian Carrots Ahead of Thanksgiving
BRADFORD, ONTARIO, CANADA - Whether used as a supporting component or taking the plate as a main star, carrots provide both texture and flavor to any meal. And, as we prepare for one of the biggest meals of the year, Gwillimdale Farms is ensuring both retailers and shoppers here in the States are well stocked on carrots and root veg for Thanksgiving on Thursday.
“We just finished our carrot harvest for the year, and we ended up with a great quality crop,” Quinton Woods, Senior Sales and Plant Operation Manager, shares with me. “The weather was dry all summer with some moisture in the fall, which makes for good storing carrots that are sweet and perfect for the table.”
Gwillimdale started packing from its storage last week, with volumes being average to above average from the previous year. As the Canadian season is well underway for carrots, retailers can look forward to a host of root veg to take over the holiday table.
“Consumers look for flavorful and warming dishes during this season, and we provide the commodities to bring that dish to the next level,” continues Quinton. “We offer a full line of Cello carrots, but we also ship out beets, parsnips, onions, and potatoes. These are great options for small retailers to fill a truck with multiple commodities.”
With the Canadian carrot season already underway, retailers can look ahead of the holidays and start reaching out for the grower’s upcoming Mexican program starting in February.
