Hazel Tech® Announces First Annual Grape Quality Summit
CHICAGO, IL - The fight against food waste continues, and Hazel Technologies is manning the helm as the USDA-funded technology company continues to deliver new solutions for the industry. One said solution comes in the form of Grape Quality Summit, an event featuring keynote speakers from across the grape industry. Hazel Technologies will be launching this first-ever virtual event on October 9, 2020.
“Hazel Tech has dedicated extensive research efforts to understand the most urgent post-harvest management problems in the fresh table grape category and deliver cutting-edge solutions. We are excited to share our findings with our industry partners at the Grape Quality Summit,” said Mario Cervantes, Senior Business Development Manager of Hazel Technologies.
According to the press release, the keynote speeches will highlight the latest research on fresh table grape post-harvest quality, including maintaining stem quality, preventing stem dehydration, and ensuring optimum quality during long-distance ocean freight transit.
Speakers will include Cervantes as well as Dr. Juan Pablo Zoffoli Guerra, Professor of Postharvest Physiology and Technology at Facultad de Agronomía e Ingeniería Forestal, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
“Due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, innovation in the table grape category regarding post-harvest management is needed now more than ever before,” commented Dr. Zoffoli Guerra. “I look forward to sharing the findings of our research with esteemed colleagues.”
Another keynote speaker that will be presenting at the Grape Quality Summit will be Patricio Mendoza, National Quality Manager for Vancouver, California-based Oppy.

Grape Quality Summit will be held on Friday, October 9, ahead of the ’20-’21 Southern Hemisphere grape harvest.
