JP Sullivan Appoints John Russell as New Field Manager; Chuck Yow Comments
AYER, MA - Fresh hires are on the books as JP Sullivan announces the addition of John Russell as its newest Field Manager. The packer/shipper/marketer specializes in apples from the New England and New York regions, and this new hire will continue to support the company’s position of expertise.
“After more than 30 years on the inside of the apple business—from packing, shipping, marketing, and sales, I’ve been fortunate to get to know a number of apple growers in New England and New York,” said Russell. “I look forward to getting to know their operations better and building relationships while being a conduit of information with packing and sales. It feels a bit like coming full circle in my career.”
Russell grew up in the apple growing region of Niagara County, and his family still operates Russell Farms. True to his roots, Russell dove into ag right after college.
According to a press release, Russell spent some time at the New York Apple & Cherry Association. He then spent three decades with Sun Orchard Fruit Company and Lake Ontario Fruit, working in apple packing, sales, and business development.
“The Field Manager is a vital role within the apple industry,” added Chuck Yow, President. “A Field Manager requires a very hands-on person who can wear a number of hats on any given day. John’s background couldn’t be more ideal. We’re looking forward to the expertise he brings to JP Sullivan and the partnerships in the orchards and packhouses.”
Russell will be responsible for grower and packer relations, as well as maintaining packing standards and sourcing fruit. He will also provide transparent and honest communications throughout the supply chain.
Congratulations to John Russell on this new role!
