Monterey Mushrooms Celebrates 50 Years of Innovation in Exclusive Video
MORGAN HILL, CA - Fifty years ago, our Chief Executive Officer, Shah Kazemi, was a bright-eyed young farmer who dreamed of creating his own company. Over the past five decades, this dream became a reality in the form of Monterey Mushrooms, a titan in the fresh produce industry. As we’ve become one of the largest vertically integrated mushroom companies in the world, our expansion has relied on innovation, teamwork, and the pursuit of ingenuity.
Here’s What’s in Store.
With over 4,000 teammates and nine facilities, Monterey Mushrooms produces an astounding 200 million pounds of fresh fungi annually. Instrumental to our growth has been our forward-thinking mindset, starting with the Portabella in the early 1990s. Introducing this variety to the grocery environment was a game-changer and paved the way for more innovations down the line.
Our biotech team, Amycel® and SpawnMate®, patented two brown mushroom varieties that currently command 92 percent of the global market share. We’ve also been at the forefront of growing and distributing the “High Vitamin D” tagline, a marketing strategy that has consistently driven up our value proposition.
A network that stretches from coast to coast across the United States keeps our retail reach at an all-time high. With product always a short drive away, we continue to guarantee high quality and excellent service.
We’ve been enhancing people’s lives for 50 years, and we believe the best is yet to come.
