WATSONVILLE, CA - Organics as a category just cannot be stopped, with growth happening on a massive scale across almost every variety imaginable—mushrooms included! And at this week’s Organic Produce Summit, Monterey Mushrooms made sure attendees up and down the supply chain were acutely aware of just how much growth the organic mushroom category has experienced in the last year.

“The mushroom category has seen sales growth of 3 percent over the last 52 weeks, while organic mushrooms have seen close to 4.5 percent growth,” said Mike O’Brien, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We invited organic buyers to visit our booth so that we could share what we’ve learned, helping our customers see double digit growth in sales and profits.”

Part of this growth is due to rising consumer demand, which Monterey Mushrooms has made efforts to meet with its line of organic mushrooms. According to a press release, this line includes whites and baby bellas, both available in 8-, 16-, and 24-ounce containers, and portabellas available in 8- and 16-ounce containers.

“Organics are the fastest growing segment in the mushroom category, and we expect that growth to continue,” O’Brien continued.
