SUMMERLAND, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA - Developer and grower of Arctic® apple varieties Okanagan Specialty Fruits® (OSF) has revealed the recent expansion of its executive team. As the company continues to grow, it has appointed Daryl Johnston to Vice President of Sales and Business Development and has promoted Don Westcott to Senior Vice President.
“I’m thrilled to be joining OSF and bringing my skill set to this vertically-integrated company,” stated Johnston. “Arctic apples are such an amazing product, and their superior freshness and 28-day shelf-life offer new opportunities that are waiting to be explored. I’m looking forward to helping lead the company into a market-leading position.”
Johnston joins OSF with over 32 years of food and beverage experience, including working with Dole Fresh Vegetables, Southern Specialties, and Titan Farms Sales and Palmetto Processing Solutions, a release explained. He is a proven leader in generating sustainable and profitable growth for fresh produce, frozen processing, and consumer packaged goods industries.
Neal Carter, President, expressed his excitement to have Johnston join the OSF team.
“OSF is continuing to grow at a rapid pace. Expanding our executive team into more department-focused roles, and ensuring we have strong leadership in place, will play a vital role in our continued success,” explained Carter. “We feel very fortunate to welcome Daryl to the team and are certain his vast experience and network will contribute immensely to increasing Arctic apple availability throughout the U.S. and Canada.”
In addition to Johnston, OSF promoted Don Westcott to the role of Senior Vice President.
Prior to entering this role, Westcott was the Vice President of Operations, Sales and Marketing. He held that role for over a year, and previously worked as the Director of Operations for four years. In this new role, he will take on more responsibility than he has in the past as he widens his focus on overall company operations.
Carter went on to share his appreciation of Westcott and his continued contributions to the company and its growth.
“Over the past five years, Don has proven to be a very dedicated and capable member of our executive team. While he will continue to play a central part in leading the company’s operations team, his new position will also see him take a more active role in strategic business matters,” Carter added. “I’d like to congratulate Don on his promotion, which is very well-deserved.”
Cheers to both Carter and Westcott on their impressive new roles!
