LAKELAND, FL - Both the fresh produce and retail industries appear to be in a season of evolving leadership, and Publix Super Markets is getting in on the action. The grocer recently announced that John Goff has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Retail Operations, and Matt Crawley will be named Miami Division Vice President.

Goff began his career in 1991 as a Front Service Clerk in Jacksonville, Florida, according to a press release. Throughout his tenure, he has worked in various other positions before being promoted to Store Manager in 2005. In 2010, he was named as Jacksonville Division District Manager, Miami Division Regional Director in 2014, and Miami Division Vice President in 2019.

As noted in the release, Goff will be stepping into his position officially on January 1, 2022.

With Goff’s promotion comes another. Crawley will be advancing to Miami Division Vice President upon Goff’s promotion to Senior Vice President of Retail Operations.

Crawley started at Publix in 1987 as a Grocery Clerk in Bradenton, Florida. Over the more than three decades that have passed, he has worked in other roles including Store Manager in 1995, Atlanta Division District Manager in 2001, and Atlanta Division Regional Director in 2014.

Publix President Kevin Murphy commented on the appointment of these two distinguished leaders.

“John and Matt are both seasoned, high-energy leaders with a passion for people and helping their teams grow,” said Murphy. “Their ability to motivate associates to give their personal best and deliver the highest level of service will play a critical role in preparing Publix for future growth. We are excited to see all they will accomplish in the next steps of their careers.”
