WATSONVILLE, CA - Growth in both reach and categories is in the works for Sambrailo Packaging, a company looking to bring its expertise beyond the berry industry.

Mark Sambrailo, Owner and CEO, Sambrailo Packaging“We have a history of innovation in packaging,” Owner and CEO Mark Sambrailo shared with me. “For example, we brought clamshell packaging to Driscoll’s back in the 1980s, and now look. Years ago we took packing out of the shed and brought it into the field, and now we are positioned to bring other innovations to other categories.”

To help lead the way in furthering growth is newly promoted Juana Ramirez, Director of Sales and Marketing.

Juana Ramirez, Director of Sales and Marketing, Sambrailo Packaging“In my new position, my goal is to help expand our market reach,” Juana shared. “We’re focusing on integrated packaging solutions and services that everyone can use. We’re known for our packaging and commitment to service throughout the berry industry, but we have so much to offer agriculture that we want to share our expertise with other growers and markets as well.”

And what does that vision mean? Essentially a one-stop packaging resource management partner.

“We can be the procurement, quality control, and inventory management partner for our customers, so they can be focused where they need to be… on growing,” Mark explained. He also added, “Sambrailo offers not just help in supplying the package, but honing efficiencies in operations as well.”

Juana emphasized everything that growers can achieve by consolidating with one team like Sambrailo.

“Accurate forecasting, quality packaging, just-in-time delivery… we do all that so you can focus on selling your product,” Juana told me.

Jennifer Evans, Marketing Manager, Sambrailo Packaging“In the field, time is money,” Jennifer Evans, Sambrailo’s Marketing Manager, shared, explaining how costly a mistake in label or packaging in the field can be to the grower. “If you can’t pack and you can’t ship, that is costly. We ensure that only quality packaging gets to the field so you can focus on getting your product where it needs to go.”

The California-based company already has a strong operating base in Mexico and is currently looking to reach further throughout the U.S., Mark said, promising much more innovation and ideas to fit the latest trends.

“Now there’s a push to get out of plastics, out of clamshells, and that’s something we’re working on,” he said, leaving me curious for more.

What will we see in the months to come? Keep checking in with AndNowUKnow as we wait to find out.
