Publix Distribution Center Set to Open in Alabama
MCCALLA, AL - A 638,000-square-foot Publix distribution center announced in August of 2015 is slated to open doors for business in Alabama this week.
The project, initially estimated to cost $34 million, will begin shipping deliveries to 80 stores throughout Alabama and Tennessee starting at midnight on Wednesday.
The company projects that by the end of the year, the distribution footprint will expand to 60 additional stores in Georgia and the Florida panhandle, according to source AL.com
The center has 600,000-square-feet of warehouse space, and Publix expects to employ around 300 people at the center. Those employees will have the opportunity to enjoy a free meal each day at the centers cafeteria, according to the news source.
