AIGN® Partners With Vineland to Launch Apple Varieties; Gavin Porter and Ian Potter Detail
VINELAND STATION, ONTARIO, CANADA - A partnership is blossoming between AIGN® and Vineland, and the fruits of this collaboration will be newly created apple varieties.
“AIGN is excited to be Vineland’s exclusive collaborator on the evaluation, selection, and commercialization of new apple cultivars for Canadian consumers and beyond,” commented Dr. Gavin Porter, AIGN Chief Executive Officer. “AIGN also looks forward to building a working relationship with Vineland’s multi-disciplinary team for new plant variety development aligned with AIGN's global tree production and commercialization expertise to maximize the impact of the Vineland breeding program."
The focus of this partnership will be on new consumer-driven Canadian apple varieties, a release stated. As the category continues to be successful, the two companies see a great need for innovation and evolution for the apple sector to see future growth, especially as shoppers seek out new offerings and alternatives.
This collaboration also serves to advance Vineland’s mission to improve the economic viability, sustainability, and competitiveness of horticulture in Canada.
