Allen Lund Company Welcomes Back Verbum Dei High School Interns; Carrie Petersen Comments
LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE, CA - Having access to professional exposure at an early age can be crucial in the first steps of someone’s career. The Allen Lund Company has been providing this opportunity to students at Verbum Dei High School in Los Angeles, California, and is now welcoming back student interns for the 14th year. Through the school’s Work Study program, students have the chance to develop job training skills and experience with tasks in various departments.
“After almost two years of absence, it’s great having our Verbum Dei students back working alongside our employees at headquarters,” Assistant Manager of Human Resources Carrie Petersen commented. “When they last worked for us, they were in 9th and 10th grade. Now, they have matured into juniors and seniors and jumped right back into their roles, happy to be back (safely) in the workplace.”
The Corporate Work Study program is the signature component of Verbum Dei High School, according to a press release. The unique program allows businesses to fill entry-level clerical positions, and provides students with the ability to earn a significant portion of the cost of their private, college-preparatory education and the opportunity to gain professional work experience.
“A typical day at ALC HQ will be spent gaining hands-on work experience in the Carrier Resources department finding missing bills or conducting online research and interacting with other departments on other projects,” said Petersen. “We look forward to seeing their smiles, behind the masks, and hearing how their classes are going. And for our seniors, learning about their college acceptances in anticipation of the school’s Commitment Day Ceremony in May. These are just a few of the things we have missed the past two years.”
We wish the best of luck to program participants as they return to the Allen Lund headquarters!
