Citrus Industry Veterans Form World Groves Venture; Alex Teague and Mark Vaughan Comment
NORTH AMERICA - Things are heating up in the fresh citrus industry, and it’s all thanks to the creation of a new company. It was recently announced that multiple industry veterans joined forces to form a new company: World Groves. The new company will specialize in global lime and citrus sourcing with a strong North American distribution team.
“World Groves is the result of a lifetime of work in citrus, understanding the pain points, the market needs and demands, and then building a business that is focused on fixing those pain points. It’s by looking to the world’s groves, that we build a supply chain strategy where we find a market for each piece of fruit, finding the right fruit for each buyer, and then delivering with the right logistical support,” stated Alex Teague, Founder and Chief Executive Officer.
Throughout Teague’s 40-year career in citrus, he has held roles all the way from field to operations at the C-Suite level. Others on the team include Bill Locker, who has worked with Teague for decades and brings a diverse background of business management experience.
World Groves combines strategy and logistics to improve the needs of the citrus supply chain. A press release explained that by diversifying growing regions and optimizing the tree’s potential, buyers can have year-round supply of quality limes with consistent pricing. World Groves has teamed up with Fresh Avenue’s logistics to optimize a citrus plan for both buyer and seller in North American markets.
“The Fresh Avenue contribution to World Groves is providing robust logistics support through delivered programs and consolidation so that citrus is delivered efficiently throughout North American markets. Time and time again we see the difference our logistics support has for customers, and we’re excited to be working with World Groves to bring quality limes and other citrus items to the North American market,” said Mark Vaughan, Managing Partner of Fresh Avenue.
Sustainability and economic vitality are key, both for global citrus growers and buyers as strategic sourcing and delivery is known to bring growth to businesses in the foodservice and retail sectors.
We will be keeping an eye on this rising citrus company, so don’t go anywhere.
